Welcome to the school camp in Teijo!

Teijo National Park is easily accessible to hikers due to its location, routes and terrain. That is why many beginners in nature hiking head specifically to Teijo for their first hike or overnight stay. There are plenty of services available, such as equipment rental, and after a night in the forest, it is especially nice to enjoy other aspects of the Teijo Ruukkikyli, such as restaurants, beaches or sports opportunities.
Since the national park is suitable for beginners, the area is also ideal for organizing camp schools:
Accommodation capacity is available at hotel, hostel and campsite levels.
Entrepreneurs offer equipment rental and program services, e.g. SUP boards, fat bikes, rowing boats, rock climbing, kayaking.
There are plenty of marked trails and lean-tos in Kirjakkala, Teijo and Mathildedal. You can also travel between the villages by local Paikku buses.
In terms of sports, there are activities such as downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and open water swimming in the winter, and downhill cycling, padel and mini golf in the summer.
This offering will be complemented in the future by the Teijo Nature School, from which you can order a workshop as part of your camp school in Teijo.

We offer environmental education workshops for camp schools that are in line with the curriculum. Camp school workshops are subject to a fee and are always tailored to the client's wishes. The camp school program can include, for example, watershed research, getting to know the ecosystem of a national park in more detail from the perspective of one species (ants), or diving into poetry in a forest landscape. The duration of the camp school program is approximately three hours and is led by a trained environmental educator.
If you would like more information about the nature school's camp programs or contact information for our partners for organizing a camp school, send us an email and we will get in touch.

The pictures show the students from Teijo School at a camp school in Kirjakkala Ruukkikylä. The sports sections of the program included orienteering, canoeing and archery. Sometimes the focus was on lessons given by the teachers.
Hanna Raivikko (thumbnails), an environmental educator at Teijo Nature School, organized water research workshops for small groups. The program also included small-scale forest Olympics using modern technology. Staying overnight in the old Ruukkikylä buildings was exciting! And the food was delicious, as we ate some of it outdoors.
