Teijo Nature School Spring 2023

Update 5.4. The 10 Teijo Nature School workshops for spring were booked in three days. We thank those who made reservations. The next time the calendar will be opened is at the beginning of the fall semester.

The spring sun is shining and the nature school workshops are starting! In spring 2023, the program will include the same workshops as in autumn 2022 – so we hope that new elementary schools and groups from Salo will visit the nature school in Teijo National Park. New programs will be announced in autumn 2023.

A pair of swans have nested at the starting point of the Teijo Nature School workshops. I wonder if the swans will be there this year too...

Nature School workshops in April-May

Teijo Nature School will welcome primary school groups from Salo mainly on Thursdays, and partly on Wednesdays, in April and May 2023. We have opened 10 datesin the booking calendar .

• Teachers, when filling out the reservation form, please indicate the school name, grade level, and group size in the "Message to employee" field of the form.

For technical reasons, the booking calendar has been marked as 9am-1pm. Our environmental educator will contact and discuss the start and end times with the visiting class teacher and will arrange the start time to suit the transport schedule, for example. We recommend a four-hour day so that you can spend time in nature without rushing.

Group size

The group can preferably have fewer than 25 students, but by separate agreement, groups of 25-30 children are also accepted. One group can come to the nature school at a time, but such a group can be assembled from two different age groups (3rd & 4th or 5th & 6th together), if the group size remains within the given limits.

Transportation

The Teijo Area Village Association has received a project grant from the Ministry of the Environment's administrative branch of environmental education and awareness for the Teijo nature school it maintains. The grant has earmarked an amount for transportation that will enable a round-trip Paikku trip (max. €100) for approximately 10 groups of children to Teijo in spring 2023 (and also in autumn 2023).

• As last autumn, teachers will pick up their group's Place Value Cards at the City Hall information desk during its opening hours (Mon-Thu 8am-4pm, Fri 8am-2:45pm). The cards will also be returned to City Hall.

The transportation is organized/planned by the ordering school/teacher. Paikun line 3 runs to Teijo, which departs from Ollikkalata, continues via the bus station and hospital to Viitannummi and along Merikulmantie to Teijo. Buses run once an hour on school days. The journey time from the bus station is half an hour. In Teijo, the nature school day starts next to the bus stop at the beginning of Teijontie.

At the nature school, we prefer public transport, which is also required by the project conditions. If the school comes to the nature school by chartered transport, the transport operator can send an invoice of €100 to the Teijo Area Village Association at invoicing (at) teijo.fi and the school will pay the remaining amount itself.
