A significant donation from the Perniö Lions Club to the Teijo Nature School

Lions Club Perniö, founded in 1964, supports young people in the former municipality of Perniö in particular. The Perniö Lions Club donated – through the Teijo Area Village Association – an appropriation to Teijo School and Teijo Nature School for the purchase of nature school equipment. The money was used to purchase three trangias, three binoculars, and, among other things, heated seat pads and small magnifying glasses. In addition, a member of the LC board donated used binoculars to the school. As part of the Lions Club's donation, the Village Association paid part of the salary of the nature school project worker who was on its payroll.

The handover ceremony for nature school supplies was held at Teijo School on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Perniö LC board member Antti Ristolainen had three bags of supplies with him.

For example, Juulia and Lenni were already familiar with the trangia from earlier. "Our family goes hiking in Teijo National Park and I've seen parents use it," said Juulia. Now the trangias, binoculars and other equipment will be put into use under the guidance of a Tuisku teacher when the younger students at Teijo School start their week with "forest Monday", a double lesson in the national park forest.

Rea Hietanen, the secretary of the village association and responsible for the school's afternoon activities organized by the association, reflected: "These tools will of course also be used by groups visiting the Teijo Nature School, but at least the magnifying glasses could also be suitable for the afternoon club's nature moments." Antti Ristolainen was happy about the diverse use of the donation and thanked the Teijo Area Village Association for the good cooperation.
